November

Food Item Suggestions: 13 lbs of dry beans, 1.75 lbs dry soup mix.

If you don't eat beans now, don't start.  Just Kidding.  Your body may like you better, if you slowly introduce beans into your diet.  Because of the great source in protein, I've always wanted my kids to try beans and it's been a struggle.  The first recipe they liked of course wasn't health.  I combine two cans of chili, one small can of green chilies, and one 8oz size of cream cheese and heat.  Serve with corn chips.
My kids have always really liked preztels dipped in hummas.  I never had to fight them on that one.  I will post my California Pizza Kitchen hummas recipe and white bean soup recipe soon because they are both so yummy.  (My kids will even request them!!!)    Check my foodie blob soon for these, I first need to get everyone healthy in my home.

Beans may be substituted for oil in baking.   The consistence may become spongey but is always extra moist.  My kids don't notice any change in taste only in texture so I recommend substituting only half the oil for beans.

72-Hour Kit Recommendations: Toothbrush, toothpaste*, hand sanitizer* &/or bar soap, deodorant*, shampoo, disposable razor*, wipes, feminine hygiene, comb &/or hairbrush, ear plugs, eye contacts & solution* (if needed), hand towel &/or roll of paper towels (flattened), camp soap or dish detergent (trial size)*, toilet paper &/or facial tissue, diapers for infants, and portable toilet and enzymes (for wastes).

Mandalay International is a store that specializes in LDS Humanitarian Kits items.  Products are bought in bulk and sold at a reduced cost.  Their prices are amazing.  This store and the dollar store are the two least expensive places I've found 72-hour kit items.

Suggested Assignment: Plan two emergency meeting places away from home. Pick a person outside of state to phone for coordinating family messages and memorize their phone number.
